Through the Lens...

In the Preface to his book, Figures in Stone, Robert Arthur King offers two quotes:

"The camera is no more an instrument of preservation, the image is." ~ Berenice Abbott

"Every building mus have... its own soul." ~ Louis Kahn

Robert explored New York in search of building details, diligently documenting all he found with his camera.  He expanded his search into other U.S. cities, as well as throughout Europe.  "Regrettably, the anonymous craftsmen who executed these wonderfully vital and useful details are gone," he continues in that Preface.  "Their work, which is their legacy, should not be forgotten."

 

And Robert has made it his mission to make sure that that never happens.
